Our Commitment to Safety & Quality
Clean energy construction at commercial and utility scale introduces real and significant risks. Electrical hazards, elevated work, heavy equipment, and environmental exposure are daily realities on every jobsite. Somos treats every project with the same unwavering standard: no schedule, budget, or milestone is worth compromising the wellbeing of a single worker.
That commitment extends well beyond construction. A clean energy system is a 25 to 40 year asset. The way it is engineered, installed, commissioned, and monitored determines whether it performs as intended for its entire lifecycle. Somos approaches quality not as a cost center but as a foundational investment in long-term performance.
Our framework covers every phase.
Workforce safety & jobsite risk management
Clean energy construction — especially at commercial and utility scale — introduces real and significant risks, including electrical hazards, working at heights, heavy equipment operation, and environmental exposure. Somos manages every jobsite with comprehensive site-specific safety plans, OSHA compliance and ongoing safety training, Lockout/Tagout procedures for energized systems, fall protection systems and elevated work protocols, daily Job Hazard Analyses, and heat stress and environmental condition management. At its core, safety is about protecting people. No schedule, budget, or milestone is worth compromising the wellbeing of a single worker.
Electrical safety & system integrity
Clean energy systems operate with high-voltage DC and AC power, often across large distributed systems. Somos eliminates failure points before they exist through proper grounding and bonding design, arc flash hazard analysis and labeling, correct wire management, terminations and torque specifications, energization sequencing and commissioning protocols, and full compliance with NEC, NFPA 70E, and utility interconnection standards.
Quality of engineering & design
The long-term success of a clean energy asset begins at the design stage. Somos invests in accurate production modeling and system sizing, site-specific geotechnical and structural design, equipment selection based on lifecycle performance, coordination with interconnection and utility requirements, and constructability reviews to avoid field conflicts. Poor design leads to inefficiencies, rework, and long-term underperformance. Somos approaches engineering as a foundational investment — not a cost center — to ensure projects perform as intended for decades.
Construction QA/QC
Execution in the field determines whether a project meets its design intent. Somos enforces disciplined quality control through inspection and test plans at every phase, material verification and traceability, torque logs, pull tests, electrical testing including IV curve tracing and insulation resistance, third-party inspections and commissioning validation, and documentation and as-built accuracy. Quality control is where reputation is built or lost.
Supply chain & equipment reliability
Clean energy projects are only as strong as the equipment installed. Somos sources Tier-1, bankable equipment through rigorous vendor due diligence and warranty validation, logistics planning to prevent damage or delays, compatibility review between system components, and long-term serviceability and replacement strategy. As both EPC and long-term partner, Somos often stands behind system performance — which means selecting equipment not just for cost, but for durability, reliability, and lifecycle value.
Environmental & site stewardship
Clean energy projects interact directly with land, ecosystems, and communities. Somos manages every site with stormwater pollution prevention plans, erosion control and site stabilization, minimal land disturbance and habitat considerations, and full compliance with environmental permits and local regulations. Sustainability extends beyond energy production. Somos views environmental stewardship as a responsibility to the communities and landscapes where projects are built.
Commissioning, testing & long-term performance
The transition from construction to operations is critical. Somos prioritizes rigorous system commissioning protocols and performance verification, SCADA integration and real-time monitoring, performance ratio validation and baseline establishment, and O&M planning and preventative maintenance schedules. A clean energy project is a 25 to 40 year asset. Somos ensures systems not only turn on — but perform optimally over their full lifecycle.
The principles behind every project
Long-term ownership mindset
Somos approaches every project as if it will own and operate the asset. That mindset demands durability, reliability, and zero compromise on quality from day one.
Reputation and trust
In energy infrastructure, reputation is everything. Clients, municipalities, and financing partners depend on certainty of execution. Our safety and quality standards are how we earn and protect that trust over the long term.
Financial performance & risk mitigation
Safety incidents and quality failures are expensive — causing delays, rework, liability exposure, and lost revenue. Investing upfront in rigorous standards protects project economics and our clients' capital downstream.
Workforce culture & accountability
A strong safety culture builds disciplined, high-performing teams. When expectations are high and consistent, execution improves across every aspect of a project — not just safety.
Mission-driven work
Somos was founded on the belief that clean energy infrastructure must be resilient, reliable, and built to last. Delivering on that mission requires uncompromising standards in both safety and quality. There is no shortcut to either.
